Based on Nicholas Rhea's "Constable" novel series, Heartbeat is a British police procedural period drama that ran from 1992 to 2010 on ITV Studios (previously Yorkshire Television before it was combined with ITV). The majority of the episodes of the show are centered on stories that are typically distinct but occasionally intersect; in some episodes, a single story takes place and is focused on a major incident. The series is set in the 1960s and revolves around both real-life and fictional locations in the North Riding of Yorkshire.
