Ron Kathan Talks Music and Inspiration

Back in 1999, I had the chance to meet and work with Ron Kathan, and from the start, our shared love for music sparked a close friendship. Soon, we were playing at venues together, and through Ron, I was introduced to folk music in a whole new way. As an amateur guitar player, I’ve always looked up to him—not only because of his skill, but because he’s such a seasoned musician, both as part of bands and in his solo acts. I learned more from him than I ever could in a class.

Our friendship has lasted for many years, and I’ve always wanted to capture his music because his style is so unique. You really won’t hear anything quite like it anywhere else. Knowing how special this was, it became important to me to get something on film. Though I’m no professional interviewer, I’m glad to have finally put something together. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
