Описание к видео Day 3 of Mangalore trip | Tannirbhavi Beach and Tree Park | Sultan Battery | Kulur Bridge

Sunday 4th April 2021, we had our breakfast from the Hotel. Day 3 started from Sri Venkataramana Temple in Mangalore, dedicated to Lord Vishu. This temple is very near to the hotel we stayed in. This temple is situated at a distance of 350 km from Bangalore and 57 km from Udupi. Venkateswara is another form of Lord Vishnu who is the most popular deity among devotees. He is also known as Venkatachalapathi, Venkataramana, Srinivasa, or Balaji. This ancient temple of Lord Venkataramana with Sridevi and Boodevi was built in 1868.
After the temple darshan, we are going to see one of the oldest churches in Dakshina Kannada, Milagres Church. This Church is situated at a distance of just 2 km from Venkataramana temple.
The Milagres Church is a historic Roman Catholic Church situated in the Hampankatta locality of Mangalore. The church was built in 1680 by Bishop Thomas de Castro. The original structure was constructed at the site of the present-day cemetery.
After visiting is one of the oldest churches in Dakshina Kannada, Milagres Church, we are going to Tannirbhavi beach. We need to pass through a very old Kulur bridge to reach Tannirbhavi beach.
It is the gateway of Mangalore. It is built across the river Gurupura. The district administration & Mangalore City Corporation proposed to build a permanent jetty at Kulur, to promote the backwater tourism of Mangalore along the Gurupura River. The Kulur-Tannirbhavi corridor will be developed as a major tourist attraction under the Smart City Project.
After driving for half an hour, we reached Tannirbhavi beach. Tannirbhavi beach is situated 10 km from Mangalore, 54 km from Udupi, and 358 km from Bangalore. It is the second most popular beach in Mangalore where the first popular one is Panambur Beach. Along with the beach Sultan Battery, Tannirbhavi Tree Park and the proposed marine museum are also tourist attractions.
Next, we are going to a very near location, Tannirbhavi Tree Park.
Reached Tannirbhavi Tree park, paid the entrance fee, and entered inside. We need to pay 20 rupees for adults and 10 rupees for kids. This park opens to the public from 10 am till 7 pm every day except Monday.
The literal meaning of 'Tannirbhavi' is a 'well with chilled water.
Throughout the park, we can see so many boards displaying the importance of trees, forests, etc. On one of the boards, it is stated the benefits of a tree lives for 50 years.
Tannirbhavi tree Park is just a km away from Tannirbhavi beach. Tannirbavi Tree Park is spread over two parts of land including nine acres of Gurupura riverfront and 22.5 acres on the beachfront. This park has a variety of plant species from the Western Ghats and herbal plants. The park also has a children's area, a food court, a cultural area, beachfront amenities, etc.
From Tannirbhabi Beach, we can go to a historic place Sultan Battery from here by boat ride. Don't get this place confused with Sulthan Bathery a town in Wayanad, Kerala. The main attraction is Tipu Sultan’s old watchtower overlooking the backwaters. Due to time constrain, we could not visit Sultan Bathery.
