In winter, Tino will trim off low growth from around the trunk of the tree - thin suckers and wispy stems. - to create a good airflow.

In summer he prunes out the centre of the tree and prunes to shape.
Six months ago he took out the tops of the main branches of a citrus in the patch and the regrowth is now thick and healthy.

Now it’s autumn he will thin that back to keep a good airflow. He removes a lot of the whippy new growth and leaves the thicker bits and branches that provide the best shape.
