Figured Maple on a Vintage Strat? 1965 Fender Lake Placid Blue Stratocaster

Описание к видео Figured Maple on a Vintage Strat? 1965 Fender Lake Placid Blue Stratocaster

If you weren't sure if the correct color name for this 1965 Fender Stratocaster was Lake Placid Blue, then that makes at least two of us. Feast your eyes on this very cool small headstock 1965 Stratocaster with delightfully ambered clear coat over the original LPB finish. I thought at first that it might not be LPB, but when I lifted the pickguard to inspect the finish and clean the electronics, the true color was revealed in the finish that hasn't been exposed to light an oxygen over the past nearly 60 years. As a vintage guitar collector myself, I look for either A. a perfect non-ambered original custom color or B. a very cool variation of the color resulting from the combination of the original color and the clearcoat turning amber over time. This one satisfies the latter of those two categories.

Lake Placid Blue is considered a common custom color on a vintage Stratocaster, but a nicely figured flame Maple neck like this one is fairly uncommon. Check out the B roll shots of the back of the neck that show some nice unpredictable patterned figure. The condition of the guitar is nice but with significant ambering of the clearcoat on both the body and neck. The neck heel date indicates that this neck started production in October of 1965. The pickup dates indicate that they were wound on December 7th, 1965.
