Wow! What an information filled interview! I think since Eric hasn’t posted too much about his journey online, i had to ask so many questions going back to his beginnings- and he has a fascinating and unique one- as all shoemakers have.

During Covid, right at the beginning he actually came back from a sourcing trip in Milan, at Linea Pelle, so he quarantined for 2 weeks at his home in Texas. Both him and his wife work from home so he was able to do house work, or be home, and not change lifestyle too much.

Now about to open a bespoke shoemaker’s workshop, under his name, website to come very soon, he started his shoe journey 5 years ago. He apprenticed with multiple shoemakers. From Costa Rica where he was deep working in sustainable tourism, had left his procession, and flew to Michigan, In 2015-2016 in dead winter, to apprentice with Tim Goodrich. He was there for a year and a half. He learned in exchange for work. He then learned with Peter (I couldn’t catch last name and I’ll update after I research) from Toronto, who has had his education at a shoemaking school in Florence. And there he learned primarily with Yusuke Kobayashi, who also went to the same school in Italy. He then had a chance to work twice, in Atsushi Kinai’s atelier in Kobe. He then came back to the USA, had a chance to apprentice with Marcell as well. And now he feels ready, to embark on his adventure to put his name on his shoes. He’s at the moment working on shoes for his wife and himself to warm up his hands again. But he’ll have a website soon and will selectively make shoes for clients. Let’s see what he’s going to make next! I tried to convince him to share more with us hungry viewers for photos of some of his creations but it’s up to Eric on that😊 no pressure.

Brooklyn Shoe Space is a great shoemakers' class room space. You'll find all the basic equipment that you'll need to make a pair of shoes such as 5-in-1, high post machines, zig-zag machine, skiver, finishers, glue stations. It is a space for students to be creative, make a mess, and make shoes!
