Описание к видео MMW Back In Time: Train robber tells all

By Krystle Henderson/KTVL.comASHLAND, Ore. - News10 and the Southern Oregon Historical Society have uncovered a rare interview with one of the train robbers involved in the tragedy at tunnel 13, after he was released from prison. The interview was recorded by News10's sister station in the 70s. According to its producers, at first Ray D'Autremont didn't want to appear in the film but agreed to it later because he believed some good could come of its showing. After all these years of trying to forget the crimes of the past, those of others as well as myself, it seems unreal, Ray D'Autremont said.During the interview, he stood before the tunnel he attempted to rob a train at decades ago. Everything we had was invested in the crime, we probably didn't have three dollars among us and we weren't thinking about going back to those logging camps, that hard labor, he said. That attempted robbery ended with four people dead and one of the most significant manhunts in U.S. criminal history. The three brothers where eventually captured years later, after millions of dollars worth of wanted posters went up all over the world.Ray was released from prison in 1961, on the anniversary of the tragedy, because of good behavior.Ray's brother Hugh was also paroled from prison because of good behavior but died of cancer just three months later. His other brother Roy went insane while in prison and was moved to the state mental hospital where he later died in 1984.
