Frugii Dessert Laboratory is the destination for amazing flavors of ice cream, with unique texture and flavors and the most friendly staff!

I am lucky that I get to travel to Australia for Christmas and the Southern Hemisphere Summer, as a break from the cold in New York. Each year we try and do a mini side trip from my home base of Melbourne to explore another state or city.

This time we decided to explore Canberra, as a part of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). This is the capital of Australia and generally lesser known to people around the world but like Washington, DC was created as a separate capital city after the founding of the country as a compromise between different factions.

Should I visit Canberra?

Like many government cities, Canberra had a historical reputation for being more sleepy and less cool. However like many of those same capital cities around the world, they all seem to be going through a renaissance with younger populations, cooler neighborhoods, and of course lots of amazing food, drinks, culture and amenities. That is on top of all the national sites of significance which are also great to visit as well as a lot of the wineries, national parks and other agricultural tourism in the surrounds.

So you have areas like Braddon, where Frugii is located, which has become a mecca of some of the coolest spots for food and drinks and fun anywhere in Australia.

Should I seek out Frugii Dessert Laboratory?

Well if you like amazing ice cream, other dessert like products, amazing coffee all paired with cool vibe location and the most amazing friendly owners (it is a family run business), then this is the place for you! PLUS they are open late for that after bar/partying/dinner treat.
