See this entire amazing documentary here -    • Was Age A Sin In 1970? Is It Today? Amazin...
What was it like to grow old in 1970? This television documentary, which ran in the prime time back then, was reviewed as outrageous because it looked at the situation honestly - as they said back then – to tell it like it is. This documentary did. Dealing with aging, with fears of death, with growing old, with change.

It looks at Social Security, at the concept of retirement, and it says that by the year 2000, there would be 164 American women age 65 or older for every American man of that age.

Growing old in 1970 was a different experience than it is today, as the understanding of aging and its associated health issues was not as developed as it is now. There was a lack of access to advanced medical treatments and a limited understanding of age-related health problems, so people generally faced more challenges as they grew older. Additionally, older adults were often less active and engaged in their communities compared to today, and faced more social stigma and ageism.

However, there were also some positive aspects of aging in 1970. For example, families and communities were often closer-knit and provided more support to older adults. Additionally, many older people had lived through significant historical events and had a wealth of knowledge and experience to share.

It is also worth noting that the demographics of older adults in 1970 were different from today. The average life expectancy was lower, and the elderly population was smaller as a percentage of the total population. This resulted in a different experience of aging and a different set of societal attitudes towards older adults.
