Certificates, diplomas, and degrees

The North Carolina Community College system offers more than 275 different certificates, diploma and associate degree programs. In fiscal year 2019, the NCCCS awarded 64,797 curriculum credentials: 43% were certificate credentials, 8% were diploma credentials, and 49% were associate credentials. All colleges use a common course library to create consistency of programs and to facilitate transfer across the 58 community colleges and 4-year colleges and universities. New courses of study are approved by the State Board of Community Colleges (SBCC).
