Vienna Airport ✈️ to City Center 🇦🇹 and Westbahnhof - The Fastest Way

This is definitely not the cheapest, but the fastest way to go from Vienna Airport to the City Center (Landstraße - Wien Mitte). Additionally we show you, how to go to Westbahnhof.

In todays immersive Walking Video we take the City Airport Train, also called CAT, directly to the City Center of Vienna. Well technically the train arrives at the 3rd district Landstraße, but it is away just one metro stop from the actual first district.

In this app you would choose to go from "Flughafen Wien" to "Landstraße".
01:50 When you pass the door after arrival, please turn to the right. The passage over the ramp downstairs will bring you directly to the trains. Today I choose the City Airport train, as it is the fastest option. Many locals would call it a scam, as regular trains would much cheaper and would take just a few more minutes. I will cover that option the next time, but I think, the CAT also brings some advantages.
First of all, if you travel with kids, they do not need an extra ticket, if they are under 15 years old. Also dogs travel free of charge. Additionally they offer luggage drop off, if you go to the airport and seats are more comfortable and offer more legroom. As there is no stop in between Airport station and Wien-Mitte, the City Airport Train manages to do the same distance as regular trains a bit faster.
02:34 Purchasing a one-way-ticket is easy to get and currently costs €14,90. The return ticket is €12,45 per trip. Always keep your ticket until you finally leave the station.

08:05 By using the app "WienMobil" you can see all the options and you will notice, why locals would not recommend the CAT-option. The City Airport Train leaves every 30min and takes 16 minutes to Landstraße / Wien-Mitte. The other 2 ways with regualar trains would take 19 or 23 minutes for only €4,50.

28:56 Take the second elevator down, if you want to continue your trip by subway line U3. There are two directions, Simmering to the south-east and Ottakring to the west. If you need to go to e.g Westbahnhof, we need to thake the metro directing to Ottakring. I choose to walk here as the elevator is quite small.
