DUELLO ALFA 155 vs AUDI A A4! “PIEDONE” Giovanardi VS Karl Wendlinger. Campionato Super Turismo 1997

🇮🇹 Giovanardi doveva vincere quella gara per potersi aggiudicare il titolo di campione ma sulla sua strada trovò appunto il tedesco, che prima del terribile incidente a Monaco nel 1994 veniva considerato uno degli astri nascenti della Formula 1, ancora di più del tedesco Schumacher.

I due corsero tre giri senza esclusione di colpi, con sportellate su sportellate e persino un paraurti posteriore dell'Alfa Romeo 155 completamente divelto. Erano anni in cui il regolamento lo permetteva, e i piloti non avevano affatto paura a darsele di santa ragione in pista pur di vincere.

Per la cronaca Giovanardi riuscì ad avere la meglio sul tedesco ma la gara venne vinta alla fine da Capello mentre il titolo fu assegnato a Naspetti, che trionfò con la sua BMW 320i: quel duello, che trovate qui sopra, resterà nella storia.

🇬🇧 Giovanardi had to win that race to be able to win the championship title but on his way he found the German, who before the terrible accident in Monaco in 1994 was considered one of the rising stars of Formula 1, even more so than the german Schumacher.

They ran three laps with no holds barred, with door after door and even a rear bumper of the Alfa Romeo 155 completely torn off.

Those were years in which the regulations allowed it, and the drivers were not at all afraid to beat themselves up on the track in order to win.

For the record Giovanardi managed to get the better of the German but the race was won in the end by Capello while the title was awarded to Naspetti, who triumphed with his BMW 320i: that duel, which you find above, will remain in history.
