ARE MEXICANS RACIST? Being brown skinned living in Mexico

Описание к видео ARE MEXICANS RACIST? Being brown skinned living in Mexico

With the controversy about the racist policies in the Sonora Grill restaurant chain in Mexico City, this video shares my experience as a dark-skinned Mexican.

Despite the majority of Mexicans having dark skin like me, it's not always seen as a desirable trait. I explain my experience and my perspective as a dark-skinned Mexican and what life in Mexico is like for those of us with indigenous features or darker skin.

Mexico is an incredibly diverse country and this is what I try to show in my videos. It is home to dozens of indigenous communities with distinct cultures and languages. Centuries of immigration has increased this diversity even more and now it's impossible to say that Mexican is a race since there are Mexicans of all colors.

But with the majority of Mexicans identifying as dark-skinned or moreno, why is there so little representation of them on TV and why are the top jobs overwhelmingly occupied by white Mexicans?

As a dark skinned Mexican with indigenous features, I want to share my experience of growing up in Mexico, the attitudes that I've faced, and even some racist comments from my fellow Mexicans because of the color of my skin.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your experiences and if they are the same as mine. Have you ever experienced racism in Mexico? Do you know what it's like to be black in Mexico or experienced attitudes towards other races?
