Eventing (aka 3 Day Eventing or horse trials)is an equestrian horseback riding sport where the partnership between horse and rider is tested across three distinct phases (disciplines): dressage, cross country, and show jumping.

Cross country (XC) is the hallmark phase of eventing, and tests the rider and horse’s trust in each other, bravery, fitness, and accuracy. This phase is ridden outdoors on a track covering up to multiple miles at the highest levels – through fields and woods across varying terrain. The horse contains solid immovable objects to be jumped – often in combinations that require accuracy and forward riding. Natural style obstacles like ditches, water and banks are also featured.
