The Tesla 70D with autopilot uses the Bosch iBooster for brake assist. The iBooster uses an electric motor rather than the vacuum normally provided by an internal combustion engine. Electric assist braking only uses power while braking, is quieter (than a vacuum pump), and is smaller.

The TesLorean (DMC-12 with Tesla technology) will use the iBooster to replace the stock vacuum brake booster - removing the need for a vacuum pump, controls, and vacuum reservoir.
