It sometimes takes me a while to write songs...this one actually took 12 years to finish! I began writing this in November of 2008, and just finished it about two weeks ago. I have to practice it much more (I have only played and sung this a handful of times), but here is my first "demo" of it...hope you guys enjoy it!! At 1:48 a truck went by and was picked up in the mic...lol...Sorry!

I was in a "different" place back in 2008, and was not living my fullest life. I had a lot of fun back then, but I was ready to leave everything behind and start something new, so in 2010, I moved to San Francisco, California. I had only two verses down then, and no chorus at all. I recently went through my old notebooks to see what I can finish up, now that I have more time to dedicate to writing.

I promise the next few songs will have a happier vibe to them. I had a lot of feelings about loss and being alone, feeling unwanted and unloved, and feeling like I had no direction or purpose in life. That was me in the past, but I went through a personal awakening (when I was 33) and I now feel more connected and alive than I have ever felt before. The impetus for focusing my life on music was this sudden and powerful experience I had when I was 33. I didn’t really believe in God then, but I do now.

So...about this recording:
I used my Cole Clark Angel 2 Solid California Redwood top and solid Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. It is strung with Elixir nanoweb Phosphor Bronze .12-.53 strings. I used the stereo XY mics on my Zoom Q8, and did all the rest of the audio and video processing in Reaper, with stock or free VST plug-ins.
I decided on the dark bakground and wearing a hood over my eyes so the listener would focus more on the music than on me, personally. I am not the show, the music is. Plus, I am not much of a showman. I prefer to be in the back, just doing my thing. I spent most of my musical life backing up other singers and musicians, and not in the stage lights.
