On June 17th, 2024 we drive from Hana to Kīpahulu, Maui and explore part of the Pipiwai Trail then visit Palapala Ho'Omau Congregational Church. I discovered more history at the church cemetery through a marker in honor of the Lowell and Taylor "Tay" Thompson family. Lowell Thompson had connections to Lawrence of Arabia and was professional speaker, author, publisher, broadcast professional and more.

I also discovered Samuel F. Pryor and Charles Lindbergh were friends living in Kīpahulu and worked together with others to restore the church. Sam Pryor was the V.P. for Pan American Airlines and was instrumental in much of the airline's success.

I discovered another marker honoring five Hana fishermen lost at sea on February 11, 1979 near Hana, Maui and the mystery of their 17 foot fishing boat, The Sahara Joe. The boat was discovered 9 years later in 1988, on Taongi atoll in the northern part of the Marshall Islands, located about 2,200 miles southwest of Hawaii. One of the men was found in a shallow grave at the atoll.

May they all rest in peace.
