'Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès' has only existed shortly. In 1980 she recorded three songs and one more year later. But the producers of that time did not want to invest in a Thiès group. If you did not come from Dakar, you did not have a chance. That's why 'Dieuf-Dieul de Thiès' ceased to exist in 1982, without ever giving out any number, not even their promising, already recorded elpee. In 2002, Ted Jaspers put on the famous and sadly labeled DakarSound "Meanwhile in Thiès" as volume 9. In 2013, the small label Teranga Beat, which deals with excavation of lost treasures, was the first part of the recordings of Dieuf-Dieul. In spring 2015, the CD 'Aw Sa Yone Volume 2' followed.
To this end, Dieuf-Dieul is back together after 32 years, preparing for their first international tour. After all, Dieuf-Dieul is still futuristic with sharp guitars, tight blazers and hallucinating percussion. It is the explosive blend of a psychedelic sound, pitting from the musical traditions of various regions of Senegal. The result is an exciting cross-over of Afro-Mandinke music and Afro-jazz, a forerunner of the mbalax, the energetic and popular music style of Senegal that will make Youssou N'Dour famous. This is Senegalese music at its best.
