In the beginning just one of the friends stand up, could this have a meaning?

Let's go back to the beginning, with two young friends - Amani and Dillon.
What they loved most, was fooling around and spending all their days together. One day, however a nightmare unfolds for the young Dillon. His friend seems to have passed a long time ago, but to cope with the situation his mind created a fake reality. One where Amani was still there. But now he could notice the obvious - the death of his dearest friend, and the monster that came with it. His mind registered reality, but his heart couldn't let go. The shadow of his dead friend always lurking in the back of his eye, hunting him. He couldn't escape. The nightmare kept getting worse, holding an ever so strong grip on him. The only way out seemed to be death. He set his mind to it, stepping closer to the darkness.
When he stepped into the shadow, he united with his dear Amani in the underworld. Now once again they tread on their path together, back into the grave.

But In the end, it was all an illusion.
