As an imperial garden from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the Summer Palace (颐和园) is praised as “a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design” by UNESCO. Over a period of 270 years the garden has transformed from an exclusive royal garden into a public park. Hanging in the park is on the must-do list for many Beijingers on a beautiful day.
