Radium Hot Sprints to Johnston Canyon | Banff-Windermere Highway | BC-93 & AB-93 (July 2, 2022)

Описание к видео Radium Hot Sprints to Johnston Canyon | Banff-Windermere Highway | BC-93 & AB-93 (July 2, 2022)

In this ninth video of the series, we'll drive along the scenic Banff-Windermere Highway / Parkway (Highway 93) through Kootenay National Park, before crossing the Continental Divide via Vermillion Pass and descending into Banff National Park.

While Banff is the better known of the two, it's Kootenay National Park that has a unique connection to the Banff-Windermere Highway: The park was created in 1920 as a de-facto payment by British Columbia to the federal government for building the highway, and the park's shape is roughly defined as the area spanning 5 miles (8km) each side of the highway.

Once we leave Kootenay National Park (which is entirely within British Columbia) and cross the Continental Divide into Banff National Park (and into Alberta), we will also leave behind the watershed of the Pacific Ocean. The rivers in Banff National Park flow into Hudson Bay (which, depending on who you ask, is either part of the Atlantic or the Arctic Ocean).

Unfortunately, in a couple of sections of this video we do drive into the sun, since my filming budged did not include sufficient funds to move the sun out of the way, but the scenery was just too stunning to skip this section. Hope you'll enjoy it.
