Building a Simple DIY Instrument Case

Описание к видео Building a Simple DIY Instrument Case

In this video, I show how I created a simple and easy harmonica case. I made this case for my father for Father's Day this year, as he is an avid harmonica player. The entire build took two days.

The case is made of rough sawn walnut, and the harmonica is held in place with a leather buttoned strap that I created from an old belt. The interior of the box is lined with felt to pad the instrument inside. All edges of the case are rounded over to make it comfortable to handle and slip into a pocket.

I had originally planned to join the walls of the case with box joints, only for aesthetic purposes. Unfortunately I had difficulty with this, because my box joint jig is designed for larger work pieces. The roughly 2" x 6" pieces here got jammed in the jig and I had to re-create the box using rabbet joints. They're structurally sound, just not as pretty to look at.

Despite the build difficulties, I still enjoyed making this case because it only took two days and it was beautiful out so I could work with the door open. I couldn't help but add gratuitous footage of my shopdog Rosie enjoying the weather.
