Day 1

With Ricky Ponting missing (viral illness), Australia struggled.

Jermaine Lawson tore through the Aussies with a blistering 7/78, his career-best figures.

Australia all out for just 240.

But whispers started: umpires Shepherd & Venkat asked for Lawson’s action to be reviewed.

Day 2

Brian Lara walked in fiery, exchanging words with Australian players before facing a ball.

He smashed Brett Lee for six first ball!

Heated clashes with Steve Waugh and McGrath, umpire Shepherd had to step in.

West Indies also made 240 – only the 7th time in Test history that both teams’ 1st innings matched exactly.

Day 3

Langer & Hayden put on their 5th 200+ opening stand, more than any pair in history.

Australia raced to 417 all out, Jason Dillon keeping West Indies in the contest with 4/112.

Target set: 418 – a record chase needed.

Day 4

West Indies slipped to 74/3, then Lara fell for 60 at 165/4, and all hope seemed gone.

Enter Ramnaresh Sarwan (105) and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (104 with broken finger).

They added 123 runs, infuriating McGrath with Sarwan’s verbal counterattack.

Bottle-throwing crowds, rain delays, and a fiery contest — Antigua was alive!

West Indies closed needing 47 more with 4 wickets left.

Day 5

Chanderpaul fell early for 104, leaving tailenders to chase the dream.

But Omari Banks (47)* and Vasbert Drakes (27)* calmly guided West Indies to 418/7 — the highest successful run chase in Test history.

Brian Lara hailed it as the zenith of his career.
