Reflections on Rural Poverty | Crystal Card | TEDxDeerfield

Описание к видео Reflections on Rural Poverty | Crystal Card | TEDxDeerfield

My talk will discuss the scope and impact of poverty in families in rural America and how their struggles can often go unseen by the national eye. It will cover some of the unique challenges of growing up poor in a community lacking basic resources like grocery stores or hospitals, and how the American narration of picking yourself up by your bootstraps, doesn't work so well for people born without the metaphorical "boots" in the first place.
