During season 1 you will have an opportunity to purchase an exclusive weapon for selected heros. You'll get universal exclusive weapon shards as part of VS in the beginning but wonder what to do with them. You'll then get the opportunity to purchase a pack for the exclusive weapon and buy more shards. These shards are added to the hero training day of VS for points.
