Boxing fans are not getting the fights they want to see. Bob Arum and Oscar de la Hoya continue their distain for each other and Richey Rich Schaefer adds to the ill feelings by floating salvos at the Top Rank chief every chance he gets. Golden Boy has assembled it's own stable of fighters and their promotions in recent years have involved only their own signed clients in main event showdowns. Top Rank is taking the same tact, so the best of each stable have not had the chance to battle one another. The promoter of the show, controls both boxers in every main event, so GB and TR is content to be guaranteed a win and a loss, rather than take a risk against the rival firm. The animosity stems from Oscar bolting from Top Rank who made him millions and helped carve his Golden Boy legacy. Oscar resents Arum because of control issues, and Uncle Bob's constant statements that diss De La Hoya for being ungrateful, labeling him as "stupid" on more than one occasion. Of course Floyd Mayweather also made millions under the Top Rank banner, but "money" has made more dough on his own, which also irks the Top Rank Octogenarian. Floyd has been affiliated with Golden Boy ever since his "slave wages" complaint leveled at Arum. If only the feuding factions would take a page from legendary promoter Don Chargin's approach. "War a Week" Chargin is still active with club shows primarily in Northern and Southern California, and serves as a consultant to Golden Boy Promotions...yet on this most fundamental issue of matching the best, satisfying the fans and building the sport, Mr. Chargin's suggestion of a cease fire falls on deaf ears.
