Summary:
Steve’s life is going perfectly according to plan. Fabulous rent stabilized apartment in a desirable neighborhood. Amazing girlfriend he plans to marry. He’s landed an audition for a regular gig at the most popular Jazz bar in the city. All things considered, he’s living a charmed life. Thursday his trio auditions, but is told that they’ll need a pianist to accompany them. The next night he hears a pianist at a bar who blows him out of the water. He makes him an offer, and they land the gig. Bucky is like no one he’s ever met. His boyfriend Sean, on the other hand, is like a million other scumbags. He’s closeted, and married with two kids. He knows Bucky deserves better. While Steve’s girlfriend is in London for work they grow closer and he finds that he’s falling for Bucky. It’s complex. Too complex. It gets even more complicated when he realizes that Bucky returns his feelings. A love story is too intimate for three hearts. One night, after admitting his feelings, things escalate, and the next morning Peggy returns from London. He loves her, he knows he does, he’s just not sure if he’s IN love with her anymore. He spends the night with Bucky again and again. When Bucky mentions Sean while they are together one night Steve leaves, but Bucky follows him, and they get into a fight. Steve is angry that Bucky is considering seeing Sean again after everything that happened. Bucky tells Steve he is no better than Sean, tells him to fuck off, and starts spending time, though not romantically, with Sean again. Steve knows Bucky is right. He needs to choose, and while he tells himself it’s a struggle, in truth... he was lost the second he saw Bucky at that piano.
