30 December, 2015: At a media event in Seattle, members of the press learned that the 17.48m diameter mega-TBM Bertha in Seattle is ready, after its two-year long repair process, to complete the remaining 8,000ft (2,450m) of its total 9,000ft (2.7km) drive and is due to mine through the north wall of the recovery shaft during this week - the last week of 2015 and the first week of 2016. Todd Trepanier, Program Administrator for WSDOT, and Chris Dixon, Project Manager of Seattle Tunnel Partners (STP), describe in detail the relaunch process and the TBM mining program for 2016.
