The Hunter is written through the eyes of a vigilante who is seeking retribution for trespasses committed against someone close to him. The Hunter is solely focused on bringing his own brand of justice onto the trespasser in a way so vengeful the trespasser will eternally live and die in fear of the hunter.
While I wrote this through the eyes of the vigilante, on a more spiritual level, it can be taken as being spoken from the soul of karma, or even the trespasser's own conscience, if we're gracious enough to assume they have one. The thoughts of the trespasses committed might have caught up with them, and their own mind is creating a living hell and questioning if they want to go on for the pain and fear they have committed.
