Patriarch of Antioch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II explains the tradition and faith of the Syriac Orthodox Church about the passing away (Dormition) and heavenly ascension (Assumption) of the Holy Virgin Mary. We remember this event as the Feast of Shoonoyo on August 15 every year. We also remember how St. Mary gave St. Thomas her belt (zoonoro) as a sign of this miracle.
