The US Senate has passed the National Defence Authorisation Act for the fiscal year 2024. Thus, the US Navy will have funds to order 10 warships, including three submarines.

The draft military budget, which was agreed by the US Senate, for 2024 was $884.3bn, which means that the amount increased by $10bn compared to the current year and by $8bn compared to President Joe Biden's request.

The bill would allow the U.S. Navy to order 10 warships in 2024, including a tanker, a floating submarine base, destroyers and nuclear-powered submarines. You can see the list on your screen right now.

The presence of the Columbia-class strategic missile cruiser on the list should be noted separately. The submarine will carry Trident II intercontinental ballistic missiles in D5 version with nuclear warheads. These submarines will replace the Ohio-class submarines.

It should also be noted that the U.S. Navy did not request funding for the purchase of San Antonio-class landing craft for either FY2023 or FY2024. The service wanted to revise the requirements for how the expeditionary force should be equipped. To this point, the U.S. Navy has ordered eight ships out of 13 planned.
