Rally van Staden 2024 - SS1: Staden-Zarren 1 - all cars 2x (raw footage)

The first stage from the 13th Rally van Staden, a first pass on SS Staden-Zarren.

The stages are the same as last year's edition.
Cars pass twice on this intersection, which is possible due to the roads not matching on each side. For the first cars, they are about a minute apart.

SS Staden-Zarren is 11.62 km long and was won by Andy Lefevere (2, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) who completed the stage in 6:23.3 (avg 109.1 km/h), 9.8 seconds faster than Chris Van Woensel (1, Mitsubishi Lancer WRC 05), Frederik Lerminez (15, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X) was the 3rd fastest starter on +16.7.

There were already some incidents with the podium candidates on the first stage:
Richard Pex (3, Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) had a puncture at the beginning of the stage, and stopped to change the tyre, so he was already 2 minutes late at this location.
Chris Van Woensel had a gearbox failure and couldn't use his 5th gear. The problem could not be fixed and he retired after this round, despite still being 2nd overall, but with only a top speed of 145 km/h.

Also Thierry Cokelaere got a 20s penalty, registered on SS3 but for being 2 minutes late at the start of SS1. And Kurt Boone was told to have small engine issues (which luckily got sorted later on the day).
