rigveda
May the noble intelligence of the gods who are fond of simplicity come to us
May the generosity of the gods come back to us
May we receive the company of the gods
Let the gods increase our life span

Taittiriya brahmana
Whom the sages, makers of hymns, the wise ones
And the gods also, sought with fervour and effort
Her, Divine Speech, with this offering we pray
May she vouchsafe the welfare of the world

Rigveda
That goddess of speech is born of the gods
All the wise people speak it
She is giver of bliss inspiring strength and energy
Let her come to us like the cow who gives milk, when worshipped properly

Rigveda
‘The four kinds of words form the constituents of speech; the learned Brāhmanas, who have got control over their mind know them thoroughly; three out of four stages of speech being closed in caves, do not twinkle; it is the fourth that is manifest in the talk of men.’ The first three are inaudible and situated in the body, hence they are described as ‘being closed in caves,’ and the last as the audible one is the only one that ‘twinkles’.
