CFD analysis of helical tube heat exchanger was performed using ansys fluent software. It was only for introduction purpose to educate engineering students. Some assumptions were taken during tutorial making like mesh quality, solver settings etc.
Heat exchanger coils make use of a coiling tube in order to accomplish the task of transferring heat from one fluid to another. The coiled tube makes multiple passes from one side of the exchanger to the other in order to maximize the amount of surface area that is accessible. Fluid can be found on the exterior as well as the interior of the coiled tube. The heat from the fluid that is heated from the inside is transferred to the wall of the coil through the process of convection.
