This 48 second Bobby Hutcherson solo will blow your mind | VIBES HISTORY

Описание к видео This 48 second Bobby Hutcherson solo will blow your mind | VIBES HISTORY

In 1967, Lee Morgan recorded a record called "The Procrastinator". Living up to its name, the record wasn't released until 1978. The album features Morgan (trumpet), Wayne Shorter (tenor sax), Hutcherson (vibes), Herbie Hancock (piano), Ron Carter (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums). yeah....those guys can kinda play I would say.

When I bought this album in the mid 90s, I heard Bobby Hutcherson for the first time. Every track on this album is incredible - but for this video I wanted to focus on the tune "Party Time", composed by Lee Morgan.

Here's a link to the original tune:    • Party Time

Bobby Hutcherson seemed to be able to invoke joy in all its forms every time touched the vibes. His incredibly unique harmonic sense, rhythmic drama, and original vibraphone techniques are all on display in this solo...and it only takes roughly 48 seconds. Yes, you could say Bobby "broke jazz" in just 48 seconds ;)

I hope you enjoy this video, and by extension go and check out more records from the great Bobby Hutcherson!
