Teaching Dogs! Directional Changes on Leash

Working on Directional Changes via Loose Leash Walk basics.
We added the words LET'S GO, for forward movement, and THIS WAY for a change in direction.
This is a stronger skill than utilizing the dog's name over and over when trying to interrupt and redirect a behavior.
By using THIS WAY, your dog learns to turn around away from a trigger, and it is a clearly defined cue.
When using just the NAME for redirection, if you continue to use it with out acknowledgement of the skill then the NAME becomes 'poisoned' and you get inconsistent responses.

Starting this practice out by taking small steps, forward for let's go, and backwards for this way, we are able to help the dog learn directional changes to be utilized in a multitude of scenarios.
