Ancient builders created floating mini-statues, but sadly, India has not been able to protect the heritage of these magnificent temples. These remarkable floating statues were removed during the British colonial era and sold to private collectors.
From top to bottom, more than 1,600 statues have been stolen from this one Hindu temple.
Where are these idols now? Many of them are in the British Museum and other European museums.
