a week in the life: ZIMBABWE MINEFIELD 🏜️💛🇿🇼 part.1

🗺️ For a few months last year, I had the chance to work at a humanitarian landmine clearance organisation in Zimbabwe mainly as a photographer.
My friends and family in other places always seemed quite curious as to what my day-to-day life looked like out in the field, but without internet connection, it became kind of a difficult task to share these moments. This video was made in an effort for me to hold these memories while capturing the joy, the colours, the sense of life that the people and places of Zimbabwe radiate. I hope anyone watching this can take some new impressions with them, I hope you enjoy 💭🫶

🌄 A little bit of background on the landmine situation in Zimbabwe:🌍
The Zimbabwe-Mozambique border region is one of the most densely-mined areas in the world, owing to the Liberation War of the 1970s. The mines were meticulously laid out by the Rhodesian Army to prevent the cross-border movement of the independence forces. More than four decades later, these same minefields continue to pose a grave threat to local communities, their livestock, and endangered wildlife, extending in proximity to and over school commuting route, arable land, and regularly travelled paths. International humanitarian action is working towards the ‘Landmine Free 2025’ goal of eliminating the impact of landmines on local populations and ensuring a return to normalcy.
