Sometimes, it’s just a suspicion, a shadow, a mark, a slightly odd movement. In this case, the OCN rescue team debated whether the seal was entangled or not. They chose to act, and it was the right call. A thin loop of recreational fishing line, likely discarded during a casual beach fishing trip, was relentlessly cutting into the animal’s neck. The injury was subtle but dangerous, and it could have easily been missed. It makes us wonder: how many others are out there, just as compromised, but slipping through our nets?
