Small Wisconsin Town Overwhelmed by Migrants Pleads for Federal Aid | EWTN News Nightly

Since the start of Joe Biden's presidency, millions of illegal migrants have entered the US. Some have settled in large metropolitan cities like New York and Los Angeles. However, it is in the smaller towns and cities that experts say are draining resources. Lawmakers got an earful from officials in one small Wisconsin town. Members of the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing near Whitewater, Wisconsin, a town of about 15,000 that has been overwhelmed by more than a thousand migrants who have arrived since 2022. Town officials say they were given no advance warning, and now public services and resources are in crisis. They told legislators they need federal help. Local law enforcement says they need help too. Sheriff Dale Schmidt of Dodge County, Wisconsin, says, "If Trump doesn't win this election, we're screwed." Another sheriff said, "People don't understand how bad it is." A father from Whitewater, who lost his son to fentanyl, blames the Biden administration. No Democrats attended today's field hearing but have defended the Biden/Harris policies, claiming the number of illegal crossings is slowing down. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
