Notes:
1. The cow yokai is the kudan, a prophetic talking cow with a human head said to be able to predict the future. For an amazing story that includes the kudan, I would recommend Kondo Youko's 'Goshiki no Fune'
2. Ozashiki means tatami room, a play on words from Tsuge's Nejishiki meaning screw style
3. The Hayashi special issue of Garo was published in 1970 February
