The story and idea of changelings are prevalent in most lore throughout Europe, but it is also found throughout the world. The Fair Folk have their reasons for stealing babies and replacing them with changelings, but that doesn't mean there isn't something you can do about it. There is also quite a bit of history in the lore of the Fair Folk and changelings. Were the babies of old really taken by changelings - or was it just a sign of the times and lack of proper medical care? I will never discount the idea of changelings and their existence - I know that for certain. However, always remember to look at the lore, stories, myths, and concepts from a historical context as well as a metaphysical one.
