UnifyFS: A User-Level File System for Supercomputers

Описание к видео UnifyFS: A User-Level File System for Supercomputers

UnifyFS solves critical input/output (I/O) bottlenecks for high performance computing science applications to enable faster solutions. It is an ephemeral, user-level file system that manages I/O operations efficiently and transparently, so users can compute their time-sensitive results easily without code changes. UnifyFS leverages fast, node-local storage tiers on supercomputers to conduct I/O operations many times faster than with traditional methods, handling I/O requests across different storage devices and different HPC systems. These features eliminate the need for time-consuming development to optimize every application for better I/O performance; UnifyFS itself is the optimization. In addition, users can install UnifyFS without a system administrator’s help. It’s easy to start and stop and to automatically transfer data to and from the system-wide file system. Freely available as open source, production-ready UnifyFS makes I/O fast and easy so users can focus on their science.
