A playful look at the debate over the “Rookie Card” terminology in Marvel Trading Cards. Should there be “rookie cards” in Marvel cards or should there be some other term that’s closer to those in comic books? Maybe. Sure. No way. Just depends on your point of reference, I guess 🤷‍♂️

Follow that by taking a overly simplistic look at comic books and the use of “first appearances” and “cameo appearances” as a parallel comparison.

But why do so many people use the term “rookie card” for trading cards that aren’t sports cards? Probably because it’s an easy reference.

Ultimately, call those early Marvel cards of your favorite characters whatever makes you most comfortable and enjoy your collection.

But if you do want to call them “Rookie Cards” then please do your research first so you don’t end up spending more needlessly for a card that’s a “first trading card” to others.
