Nepal is facing a Silent Emergency due to the high rate of Global Acute Malnutrition-- estimated at 11 percent in 2011. To overcome this challenge, the Nepali Government initiated Community Base Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) in 5 pilot districts in 2008. The documentary is about mothers and children from Accham District that are benefiting from the CMAM program. In Accham, stunting, wasting, and anemia prevalence among under-five children is as high as 58%, 14% and 41%, respectively. Because of this programme, 87% children (out of a total 2,236) with severe acute malnutrition recovered. The programme aims to achieve wide coverage, and to provide timely and appropriate medical treatment and care to children through outpatient treatment programmes and stabilization centres. The Government extended the program to a total of 11 districts in 2012 with a long term plan to scale it up to at least 35 districts by 2017/ 2018.
