The Weaponization of Black American History

I've been studying Black American History for almost a decade now, and one of the things that has stuck out to me is how mainstream public education teaches the subject. Instead of teaching American children about the countless contributions Black Americans have made in this country, they teach them about all the struggles, trials, and tribulations they went through. While Black Americans have certainly endured their fair share of injustice and discrimination, it's equally, if not more important to reassure children of the solutions that were enacted in the face of that discrimination.
