איך השיר הזה מרגש אותנו כל פעם מחדש. הרב גורן מספר באוטוביוגרפיה שלו על הרגע שבו הגיע להר הבית במלחמת ששת הימים עם חיילי הצנחנים, הוא אמר להם לשיר את ״התקווה״ אך הם פצחו בשירה ספונטנית של ״ירושלים של זהב״, שיר שהיה אז כזה חדש שהרב גורן עוד לא הכיר אותו, רק החיילים הצעירים ;)
