Vivre sa Vie is one of the greatest films by Jean-Luc Godard and an important example of French New Wave Cinema. In this film, Godard owes another director a huge debt: Carl Theodor Dreyer. Vivre sa Vie includes both a direct reference to Dreyer's Passion of Joan of Arc in its most famous scene and borrows more generally from its singular style.
