This is my Sony a7s III First Impressions video. After filming 3 weddings and experimenting with several of the settings, I wanted to offer my first impressions and initial thoughts on using this camera for wedding filmmaking, as well as offer 1 warning about using the H.265 codec.

In this Sony a7s iii first impressions video I give you my initial thoughts on several Sony a7s iii features. The Sony a7s iii menu system is a breath of fresh air to new and existing users alike. The Sony a7s III autofocus is an incredible upgrade to an already industry-leading system. The Sony a7s III stabilization shows improvements over its predecessors as well. I was pleasantly surprised at the smooth footage I’ve been able to get the last 3 weeks. The Sony a7s III color looks incredible straight out of camera even in standard mode. The Sony a7s iii low light footage performs phenomenally. The noise pattern is tight and not too obtrusive, and honestly stays fairly light up to even 40,000 ISO. The Sony a7s iii codecs are also a nice improvement, however, the xavc hs codec with h.265 is not very user friendly to most computers and editing system. Lastly, the Sony a7s III ergonomics take a step up as well to include an easier to handle grip.

Altogether these updates make the Sony a7s III one of the best leaps forward in camera technology and video features we’ve seen since the Canon 5d mark iii. The Sony a7s iii for wedding filmmakers is an awesome camera and one of the best cameras for weddings.
