Gold luxury watches have been trending upwards over the past several years, and Rolex is heading the pack with some of the most impressive and iconic options on the market. Aside from their immense investment potential, gold Rolex watches are status symbols that have what it takes to transcend both time and fashion.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at some of Rolex’s most notable yellow gold watches. Iconic dress watches, such as the Day-Date and Cellini, seem like obvious choices for this video. However, tool watches in gold are also getting in on the trend. They have seen a significant shift over the past several decades from more than just tools developed for professional use towards status symbols suitable for every occasion.

Rolex Gold:
Rolex makes some of the best gold watches on the market. While a large part of that boils down to exceptional craftsmanship, it can also be attributed to using the best gold the world has to offer. The company forges all metals used on their watches in-house using the finest alloys available, including their 18k yellow gold. The result is a lustrous alloy that will not dull over time.

The Rolex catalog includes yellow, white, and rose gold, the latter of which they lovingly refer to as “Everose.” As interest in rose gold watches and jewelry rises, Rolex has chosen to discontinue the yellow gold option for some of their models.

For example, the GMT Master II and Yacht-Master 40 in solid yellow gold have since been replaced with Everose. At the same time, there are also models within the Rolex catalog that have never been produced in solid gold, including the Milgauss and Explorer II.

Rolex Day-Date
Our list begins with, perhaps, the most iconic yellow gold Rolex watch ever produced, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date. Also known as the “President’s Watch,” there is a certain level of prestige that accompanies every gold Day-Date. It’s sought-after the world over by some of society’s most accomplished figures and dignitaries and is most recognized by its bracelet containing rounded three-piece links. However, other variations on leather also exist.

Rolex Daytona
Although it is the definition of functional tool watch design, the Cosmograph Daytona is also another iconic gold Rolex. In fact, yellow gold has been an option within the Daytona series since 1963. Since that time, Rolex’s portfolio has also expanded to offer white gold and Everose. The effortless pairing of rugged utility with lustrous gold is what makes the yellow gold Daytona such an intriguing watch to examine and wear.

Rolex Sky-Dweller
The Sky-Dweller is a somewhat newer addition to the Rolex catalog, coming to market in 2012. Its design is quite extravagant, featuring a fluted ring command bezel, larger 42mm case size, and extra functions on the dial, including a dual-time register and annual calendar. When Rolex released the collection, it was initially only available in gold. It has also since become available in other metal finishes, including those mixed with steel. The Sky-Dweller is, arguably, one of Rolex’s most remarkable statement piece watches, particularly those offered in solid yellow gold.

Rolex Submariner
Our list wouldn’t be complete without the yellow gold Rolex Submariner, which has been an option within the series since 1960. Unlike the GMT Master II, the Submariner is still offered in yellow gold today and even includes the option for either a black or blue bezel and dial. Pair the exclusivity of solid gold with one of the world’s most iconic dive watches, and the result is a truly envious statement piece.

Rolex Cellini
A solid gold Rolex is by no means inexpensive. However, if you’re searching for the most affordable option, the vintage Cellini is among our top picks. While the current collection is only produced in white gold or Everose, solid yellow gold examples can also be found on older discontinued models in a stunning selection of unique designs. Unlike other models currently produced by Rolex, the Cellini does not utilize the Oyster case and often features a slightly more sophisticated aesthetic than other dress models.
